Make a Difference in Our Community: Join Callington Foodbank as a Charity Trustee

Are you looking for a meaningful way to share your skills and give back to the local community? Callington Foodbank is currently recruiting new Charity Trustees to help shape our future and support our mission to end food poverty across the Callington and Tamar Valley area.

Founded on Christian principles (though we welcome team members of all faiths and none who share our values), Callington Foodbank provides practical, compassionate help to individuals and families facing crisis. Alongside issuing three-day emergency food parcels and offering signposting services, we rely on the generous support of local residents, businesses, supermarkets, and churches.

We are currently entering an exciting phase of growth, developing “more than food” initiatives—including a Financial Inclusion Service in partnership with Citizens Advice—to tackle the root causes of poverty.

As a Trustee, you will play a crucial role in the strategic leadership and governance of the charity. This is a voluntary, non-executive oversight role where you will work as part of a collective board to:

• Set Strategic Direction: Guide our core purpose, vision, and long-term goals.
• Provide Financial & Legal Oversight: Manage resources responsibly, approve budgets, and ensure compliance with charity law, safeguarding, and risk management.
• Support Our Team: Collaborate with fellow trustees, a small paid staff team, and a dedicated network of volunteers

You don’t need prior trustee experience to apply While a passion for tackling local poverty is essential, we are particularly keen to hear from individuals with skills or experience in: HR / Marketing & Social Media / Fundraising & Grant Writing / Safeguarding & Risk Management / Strategic Management or Leadership

We deeply value lived experience—if you have personal experience of using food banks or similar crisis services, your perspective would be incredibly beneficial to our board.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over, legally eligible to act as a charity trustee, and primarily resident in the UK. (Note: This is an unpaid voluntary position).
